Howling Chickens FIRST LEGO League Team head to State Semi-Finals!

4-H’s own FIRST LEGO League team had an outstanding day at the Peninsula Qualifier at Bainbridge Island High School on December 9th! The 6 students, coached by Danell Swim Mackey and Jeni Banks, brought along their presentation on cleaning up Jefferson County’s septic systems, as well as a robot programmed to navigate a tough challenge course.

The Howling Chickens brought home the award for Core Values:

This award recognizes a team that excels across the Inspiration, Teamwork and Gracious Professionalism® categories. This team displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times.

They will be continuing the journey at the Semi-Finals in Seattle on January 20th or 21st, competing with the best teams in the region. Only two teams advanced from the Peninsula Qualifier, and the Howling Chickens are thrilled to have been chosen.

Thank you to the families, the coaches, the mentors (especially Aric Mackey), the volunteers at Peninsula Qualifier, and all who have supported their efforts.

Onward to State!
